Quietening down for Christmas

Just a quick note for those who stop by, that I have been busy with orders and will be taking things quietly as from next week and having a bit of a break over Christmas.  However, I will be designing and sewing up a storm in this time.  And then at the end of January I have enrolled into a design and pattern drafting course so I can really let the creative juices flow and expand my range. I am looking forward to Christmas and have visions of gorgeous wool and satin lined coats, boots and lots of knitwear.  If you would like to contact me though I will always be checking my email - dreams@returntoeden.co.nz so don't hesitate to contact me xx

All things for birthday girls and Patience...

This little dress is simple and gorgeous - I love it and wish I could wear it.  The day I created it I saw on my facebook that it was the birthday of a little girl in Australia turning 10 years old.  Double digits is such a special time when you are young.  She has the prettiest name and so I decided to call this dress after her - Patience.  She had a wonderful birthday and was thrilled to know that she had a dress named after her. Have a great year being 10 Patience x

I will be making more of this dress and will be looking for other fabrics also in the new year.

Where have I been???

It has been crazy - I can not believe how much interest there has been in Return To Eden since I put it out into the big world only two weeks ago.  I have more photos to upload but I don't think that will happen until the Christmas break, however if you would like to take a look at what has been happening you can pop over to my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Return-To-Eden/176623865684166 and see some of what I have done.  I am currently busy with custom orders and I do have some other items yet to be photographed, like a little pair of shoes that have the peace sign on them and they match a pair of frilly pants.

Also looking at getting a full website up and running in the new year so that will make it easier for people who aren't sure about etsy.

Ohhhh couldn't help myself - I have uploaded a few photos below.  Will get more up over the next week. x

All things nice and natural - Italian bamboo jersey

I ABSOLUTELY love and adore this jersey - it is just like a new born baby itself.  It is the most luxurious and softest fiber made in Italy in the most beautiful color - nautral with a beautiful sheen to it.

This bamboo yarn is no longer imported into New Zealand so once I have got all I can from my supplier, sadly there will be no more.  I also have a charcoal color but am yet to knit with it.

As with all of Return To Eden knitwear, there are no bands and it is a loose comfortable fit - a contemporary look.

All things Facebook

Yes, yes, yes Return To Eden has a facebook page.  It has photos of all garments and accessories made (although there are a number waiting patiently to be photographed) and for those that purchase Return To Eden, they can upload to the wall, pictures of their little cutie pies wearing their precious delights.

I will have very soon a holding page that will have links for this blog, facebook and to purchase items.

For the meanwhile here are a few pictures taken today.

Keep making those dreams come true.....

All the fabrics of the world....

Oh I have just ordered some sari fabrics from India.  I have a supplier who sources the markets and finds the sari fabrics for me, some of which are vintage and much sought after collectors items.  These will be arriving from India next week so I can't wait to start working with those.

I also have a collection of Thai silk which I personally picked out on my last trip to Thailand 9 weeks ago.  I have a few plans for that.  The colours are gorgeous and will be so exciting to create with.

Some more knitting cottons from Italy will be arriving in the New Year - absolutely delicious.

My love is for muted and nude palettes as well as black, grey and slates along with deep rich blues and burgundys.  There is always the traditional pink, and oh me oh my turquoise is always divine.

However, I have something with a retro cowboy and viva frida print which are my favs at the moment.

I am already thinking about boots and coats for Winter - they will be a wonderful challenge.

Its all about fun, style, funky and something gorgeous.

Guess all I can really say is..... watch this space.......

More photos - I am on a roll....

So today I thought I would give it another go so with camera in hand and a few of the garments I have made, I headed outside into the sun and attempted a few shots.  They were pretty terrible - a budding photographer I am not and no good at photoshop to boot.  However, this is something that has been put off for many weeks now so I have decided to upload and use some anyway.

The ivory and bronze ensemble are the outcome of daydreaming about a beach wedding a gorgeous little baby dressed almost as pretty as the bride.  The little shoes tie around the ankle, the top is a halter neck top.  The outfit looks quite big due to it being placed on the mannequin but in fact it is made to fit a 3-6 month old baby.  However due to not having a real child model available for me to try items on, I would think it would be best to go by measurement.

Click on the photos to see them larger.

There will be more to come.

Hooray photos are starting to happen

Well I have finally started to take some pictures of the clothing and accessories I am making.  There is so much to do - buy supplies and materials, marketing, creating, reading, learning, sewing, embellishing, conversing with suppliers and then finally it all has to be presented.  No easy feat when I have no idea how to do any of it but learning it on a day to day basis.

However, this tutu is for my first sale and that is to create a tutu for a little one year old girl whose birthday it is next week.

I don't ever know what I am going to make until I start and then it all starts to come together.  I am enjoying it more and more as my confidence grows.

So here we have a tutu made with eggplant coloured tulle from the USA, with a satin mix waistband and detachable flower.  There is a string of "pearls" in a shimmery pearl lustre that shows up all sorts of colours - so pretty.

So here is my first attempt at taking a photo and using a bit of basic photoshop to enhance it a little.  I just wish I could find a real human child to use as a model though however due to moving to a new town only 5 months ago, I do not know anybody with children here so I am having to compromise.  I will find the perfect child/ren when I get a moment to hunt some down.....
